Why do they get access to voter lists at all? Go door-knocking and setup social if you want to engage with constituents. We shouldn't be giving anyone access to personal info, voters or not, of citizens.

One answer that comes to mind is in the form of a question: given incumbents would have access to this from previous elections, would denying this to new candidates not favour incumbents even more?

I suppose that is a fair point, but why do they get access to this info? Seems like something they shouldn't be given, period. It also seems like spam if they contact people without permission. Telemarketing, mass emailing tools, and other such methods shouldn't be allowed (without opt-in consent) just because a person is a politician or candidate.
